SIS Solutions are proud to announce that they are supporting the student community. This summer they are taking part in "Shell Step" which is a national scheme the Dorset branch of which is run through Bournemouth University. The scheme is for undergraduates and provides an 8 week work placement in the summer between their second and third year at university. It differs from work experience because the student is are given a specific job to do within an SME and at the end has to enter a competition to find this years "Most Enterprising Student"! SIS Solutions have never actively marketed in the past so they asked for someone to help them. Their student is Emily who studies English and Sociology at the University of the West of England in Bristol and hopes to work in PR or Marketing when she graduates next year. Emily says: "Step and SIS Solutions have given me the opportunity to get some incredible work experience to put on my C.V! I am responsible for the whole marketing project. This is a role that would take many years of work to achieve within a large company. For SIS Solutions I have already updated their website, created a brochure and entered them for an Accountancy Age software award!" Nick Barfoot, Managing Director of SIS says: "We have never used Step before and are very pleased with the results. As a SME Emily is part of our team and her work has made a real difference. Step benefits the students because they get hands on experience and can see the results of their work which they would not be able to in a large company. It is a cost effective way of getting a job done to a high standard. I would definitely recommend it to other employers. Giving our future business leaders an opportunity to get some real life experience will reap rewards when they graduate and become the next generation of entrepreneurs."
